Wine Review: The 2008 vintage is the best year from various reviews. Various reviews also say this wine is good for cooking. It pairs well with seafood, pasta, and white meat. A lot of people say it is good for the price and is a great find at any grocery store for a cheap price.
Wine Folly: Pg 149 - Pinot Grigio: Typically has notes of white peach, lemon zest, cantaloupe, raw almond, and crushed gravel. It is a pink grape mutation of Pinot Noir that range in style from dry to sweet. Pinot Grigio is typically high in acidity, low in body and tannins, and a semi-sweet wine. Pg 101 - Colombard: Typically has notes of green apple, honeydew, white peach, lemon grass, and almond. Even though it is planted around the world, it is mainly used for brandy production, mainly in Armagnac, France. Colombard is typically low in body, sweetness, and tannins, and high in acidity.
Personal Take: When I do the swirl and sniff, I get notes of green apple, and sweet pears. I also get notes of white peach, cantaloupe and other citrus when I taste the wine. I could not detect any notes of the aging process as I believe it wasn't aged very long. This is a wine that I would buy if I were looking for something on the dry side with a sweet aftertaste.
I did not taste this wine with any food.
