Winery Review: The fountain of youth is found in every bottle of Stella Rosa Imperiale Moscato Rosé, a fully sparkling wine that is easy on the eyes and the palate with a flavor profile of summer peach, apricot, and wildflower. For an enhanced experience, it is best paired with pork and red velvet cake.
Wine Folly: Pg. 139 Moscato d'Asti. A very light and delicate sparkling Muscat Blanc from the Asti region of Piedmont in Italy that has one of the lowest alcohol by volume levels for wine (5.5%) by reserving the grape sugars for the wine. Typical notes are mandarin orange, vanilla bean, honeysuckle, rose petal, and lemon. Pg. 140 Muscat of Alexandria. Primarily used for dessert wines, this wine has high sweetness, very low tannins and alcohol, low acidity, and medium body. Notes of peach, white blossom, honey, lychee, and mandarin orange can be found.
Personal Take: As someone that has tried Stella Rosa before, their signature sparkles are lovely on the palate as they are light and not robust like others. It was possible to sniff but not as probable to swirl as I did not want to take away from the carbonation. When I took my first whiff, I smelled fruits like strawberry, peach, slightly mango, and other fruits that are not common in the wintertime. It was a refreshing smell. When I tasted the wine, I got notes of apricot, carbonation (obvi), and a fruit blend that I cannot put my finger on. It seems to be a mixture of watermelon, strawberry, apricot, peach, and cherry. It is packaged with purple foil and a wire cage and a cork that pops like champagne. Is it worth the price? For a special occasion, yes. For everyday drinking, no.
This was tasted on Its own and later paired with food.
