Wine Review: "Lemon and wet clay. The great zest of vinho verde. Who cannot love this? Clean palate with some apples and pear. Exquisite. Easy to love." - Dale at Vivino.com. "So easy to gulp down - citrus, green apple, pear, lemon, and a touch of salt. Slightly fizzy so greatly enjoyed it very cold on a hot, sunny day." - John at Vivino.com.

Wine Folly: pg. 184 - Vinho Verde. Vinho Verde is typically a wine blend from Portugal that is offered in white, rose, and red styles of wine. It is often described as low alcohol, high acidity, semi-sweet, low tannins, and low body. The most common notes would be lemonade, white blossom, pink grapefruit, yellow apple, and lime zest. It is often paired with seafood, mango salsa, anything with cilantro, etc.

Personal Take: I bought this wine on a whim after tasting the Rose version of this wine as I like that one a lot. When I first tasted and smelled the wine, I got heavy notes of citrus, specifically lemon, lime, and orange. I also got notes of green apple and pear. There was a hint of honey and a slight smell of grass. (It was actually refreshing to smell the outside). There is also a bubbly component to this wine that makes it quite refreshing and light on the palate. There is a lot of acidity in this wine but it is well-balanced with the flavors. Once I let this wine sit out for about 10 minutes, I got other notes of grapefruit, melon, and some sort of mineral. While this wine is not at my usual sweetness level, I do like it for the price, alcohol content, and flavors of the wine.
